Retrofitted Sonic Vibration Device

Retrofitted Sonic Vibration Device, 2019.

What if any toothbrush could work electronically?

How might we democratize the electronic toothbrush?

Through local and macro ethnographic research, I was able to conclude that the current state-of-the-art in Oral Care—being the electronic toothbrush—is failing in function and adoption.

How can it be that the very device recommended by nearly every dentist is failing to be adopted?

How can a product be both state-of-the-art and failing horribly in design?

When asked to design a new toothbrush, I realized that was not what I should do. I should re-design your toothbrush, because most likely, there’s nothing inherently wrong with it.

Proceeding the class project, I decided to take Brush Buddy to market. This involved attending the Ontario Dental Association Annual Spring Meeting, building industry connections and a hefty advisory board, incorporating and exploring the patenting process.

I’ve remained the sole shareholder of my business which seeks to produce this product along with other smart dental products. Below is the original presentation I gave to the class.
